KANSAS CITY PRIDE

KC INFO

We’re proud to call this city our home. You’ll find that the people are friendly, and while our metro area boasts over 2.3 million people, you can find yourself just about anywhere in the city in 20-25 minutes. With so many local attractions, that’s a good thing!

In the meantime, read on for more information on all that Kansas City has to offer! We’re going to give you the inside track and share all the reasons why we love KC!

PLACES TO SEE AND THINGS TO DO

One KC attractions that provides entertainment for all ages is sports! From local soccer leagues for the kids, to professional teams, our beloved teams rank at the top of the list. We’ve got Chiefs football, Royals baseball, Sporting KC soccer, Mavericks KC hockey, and NASCAR racing—just to name just a few.

However, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the Kansas City arts scene. The world renowned Nelson AtkinsMuseum of Art is located just off the Country Club Plaza. The midtown area is home to Hallmark Cards, where you’ll find Crown Center and Crossroads Arts District. Enjoy what has become the City’s most dynamic and popular event in The Crossroads: First Fridays KC. Here you can celebrate local artists, while viewing shops, galleries, food trucks and restaurants. Just up the road, the Kansas City Symphony and Kansas City Ballet perform at the beautiful Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Nightlife comes alive in our historic Jazz District. Visit the The Blue Room at the American Jazz Museum at 18th and Vine, and view live performances almost every day of the week! In the nearby Power & Light Entertainment District we highly recommend the Green Lady Lounge. But there’s so much more! The excitement keeps going at numerous P&L area restaurants, bars—and even a few speakeasy locations... You can also take in a concert, the Big 12 Tournament, or enjoy the College Basketball Experience at Our Downtown Arena. Wow!

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

Kansas City offers a wide range of outdoor activities. During warmer months, have a blast at the Worlds of Fun amusement park, visit water parks, pools, & lakes, go shopping on The Plaza, take in a show at the Starlight Theater, stroll through the fabulous Kansas City Zoo, pet baby animals at the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, enjoy numerous wineries, or explore hundreds of miles of bikeways, trails, parks and dog parks.

In the Fall, this Halloween-loving city has some of the best haunted houses and other activities! But you can also spend your time enjoying the Renaissance Festival, The Plaza Art Fair, and so much more.

In the winter, check out some of the best holiday light displays in the country on the Plaza, or hire a limo and take a lights tour! When the snow starts falling take advantage of the best ice skating and sledding spots.

Looking for more? You’re just a hop, skip, and a jump from lots of great local get-aways. Ready to travel further? You’re all set! Our existing airport is being replaced. This project is the largest single infrastructure project in Kansas City’s history! A new single terminal at KCI will be completed in 2023, meeting the needs of the ever expanding KC metro area.

FOOD & DRINK OF KC

You’ll find endless KC dining options, but barbecue is a must! Some of our favorites include Q-39, Jack Stack, KC Joe’s, Arthur Bryant’s, Gate’s and Brobeck’s.

It’s true that we’re famous for our barbecue, but our food and drink scene is one of the best, with gourmet restaurants, Italian specialties, authentic Mexican joints, and everything in between. Here are some of the very best restaurants in the KC metro! Brunch anyone? We’ve got great local suggestions… Foodies will love to discover the variety of dining gems around Kansas City.

Local distilleries such as J. Rieger Co., Boulevard Brewery, and BKS Artisan Ales, are refreshing destinations for a good time. And unique coffee shops like The Roasterie, Crow’s Coffee, and Summer Moon are the icing on Kansas City’s cake!
