  • Boulevardia – In June, Crown Center transforms into a festival with food trucks, concerts, maker booths, a family carnival, and beer stations.
  • KC RiverFest – Enjoy this event on the 4th of July with live music, activities, and one of the largest fireworks shows in the Midwest!
  • Johnson County Fair – Come out to Gardner, KS for carnival rides, a demolition derby, and live music.
  • Hot Country Nights – Go see free live music in the Power & Light District.
  • Great Lenexa BBQ Battle – Sample award-winning BBQ while contestants fight it out to win.
  • Old Shawnee Days – Have a blast at this carnival celebrating Shawnee history with rides, games, music, and more.

  • Plaza Art Fair – Join the crowds gathering for art, live music, food and drinks at this nationally recognized art event on the Country Club Plaza. 
  • Ciderfest – Bring the whole family to the Louisburg Cider Mill for this annual event, where you’ll watch as apples are pressed into cider, sample cider donuts, along with live music and family-friendly activities. 
  • American Royal World Series of Barbecue – Don’t miss the opportunity to taste-test BBQ at KC’s most famous competition.
  • KC Airshow – Be sure to get seats at this event—voted Best Air Show in 2019 by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

  • The Plaza Lights – A local tradition for more than 90 years, timeless in every way imaginable, these holiday lights are a quintessential KC holiday tradition. 
  • The Nutcracker – Performed by the Kansas City Ballet, it is an iconic, long-running show, and a veritable holiday favorite in the Kansas City region. 
  • Annual Christmas in the Park – Viewed at Longview Lake, it is a magical winter wonderland featuring more than half a million lights and 175 animated displays. 
  • Sar-Ko Aglow – Another favorite winter tradition filled with twinkling holiday lights!
  • Kansas City Restaurant Week – This special event offers special multi-course menus at restaurants around the city, with portions of the proceeds benefitting area charities.

 

 

 

 

 

MONTHLY EVENTS IN KANSAS CITY

 

First Fridays in the Crossroads Arts District. Galleries open their doors and welcome visitors to browse and explore. Many local Crossroads Arts District stores also join in the monthly celebration, staying open late. A wide array of places to dine and enjoy cocktails will tempt your taste buds too. Venture by KC Streetcar or on foot. First Fridays typically begin around 5 p.m. More info 

 

First Weekends in the West Bottoms. Offering a wide assortment of antique and vintage stores, the West Bottoms invites visitors to search for kitschy-cool artifacts.
