Featuring 28,000 acres of clear water that attracts thousands of water sports lovers, fishermen, hikers, and birdwatchers, Beaver Lake is located in the northwest Arkansas Ozark Mountains, just south of the Missouri state line. This prime location make it a great choice for big lake living near Kansas City. The cities of Eureka Springs, Bentonville, Rogers, and Springdale are all within 35 miles of the lake. Interstate 45 connects the multiple state routes that surround the lake to the cities, so access couldn’t be easier. Two nearby airports are within 30 miles, the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Bentonville, and the Beaver Lake Aviation in Rogers.
487 miles of natural shoreline are surrounded by mountainous terrain, forests, and meadows crisscrossed by hiking trails. There are twelve developed parks around the lake offering 5 modernized campgrounds with water, showers, electricity, restrooms and fire rings. The parks also have boat launches and 7 full-service marinas with 1,750 boat slips.
Boating, scuba diving, water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, and swimming are all popular activities, with no boating restrictions. The lake also has twelve swim beaches, so suit up, grab the towels and sunscreen!
Ready to reel in a big one? Beaver Lake is nationally renowned for bass fishing and has become a destination for 8 major annual fishing tournaments. Other fish found in the lake are black crappie, channel catfish, and white crappie. Fun fact: The record setting fish coming from Beaver Lake was around 40 pounds!
Notable lake events include holiday fireworks and a Christmas boat parade. For a fun way to see more of the lake, take a ride on The Belle of the Ozarks, a multi-passenger steam vessel, which operates along the river on regular tours. You may also enjoy visiting the Beaver Bridge, known as the “Little Golden Gate of Arkansas”. It crosses the White River just north of the lake. Many activities can be in the surrounding area as well, with six golf courses and a variety of entertainment venues nearby.
