ABOUT BROOKSIDE
Brookside is a highly coveted collection of neighborhoods located in Kansas City, Missouri, just a few blocks south of the Country Club Plaza. It is bounded by 55th Street on the North, Gregory on the South, Ward Parkway on the West, and Troost on the East. This broad area encompasses neighborhoods such as Brookside Park, Morningside, Armour Hills, Meyer Circle, Ward Estates, and the Country Club District to name a few.
Many of the houses here were built in the 1920s. Beautiful historic homes in Brookside include Tudors, Craftsman Bungalows, Colonial Revivals, and American Georgian styles. With tree-lined streets, several parks, and the Trolley Trail, the area is filled with friendly neighborhood activity.
The Brookside area is a metropolitan hub of unique shops, trendy restaurants, and cultural attractions. Home to some of Kansas City’s hippest residents and urban professionals, Brookside was one of the city's first suburban shopping areas. Brookside has more than 80 shops, restaurants, and services, located in elegantly preserved architecture with neighborhood appeal. Walkability is a big attraction for this area.
Both the Wornall House Museum and the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures are within the neighborhood. And the nationally recognized Brookside Art Fair is held on the first weekend in May each year. It features more than 185 artists, and attracts more than 70,000 attendees.
Area schools include one of Missouri’s top-performing charter schools—Académie Lafayette, a French immersion school. St. Elizabeth's School is also in the neighborhood, with top-tier private school, Pembroke Hill, also within easy reach.
