ABOUT WESTPORT
We believe all Kansas Citians can agree that the heart of Midtown is Westport, and that 39th Street is its main artery. Westport begins just north of the plaza at 46th street and runs north to 39th street. It falls approximately between Southwest Trafficway and Main Street west to east.
Westport is an eclectic area, known for its entertainment area, where you can plug into KC's live music scene, and check out festive brewpubs, DJ bars and retro-chic diners serving American comfort food. During the day, the scene centers on trendy fashion boutiques, funky gift shops, and KC's local vendors.
The neighborhood's history dating back to the 1800s stands as a testament to its long-standing appeal. Remnants of Westport’s 19th-century charm color the neighborhood with historic buildings, old-style lampposts and tree-lined boulevards that almost beg for a long walk. History buffs will find a walking trail with placards that recount the area’s storied history and the Battle of Westport, the largest Civil War conflict west of the Mississippi.
